New Scent Day 2 "Sherlock"
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle(1859-1930) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He studied to be a doctor at the University of Edinburgh and set up a small practice at Southsea in Hampshire during his 20s. While the practice proved largely unsuccessful, the lack of patients provided him with the opportunity to create possibly the most popular character ever introduced in the history of fiction, Sherlock Holmes.
While at University, Conan Doyle had been greatly influenced by Dr. Joseph Bell, one of his professors. Bell was an expert in the use of deductive reasoning to diagnose disease. Conan Doyle was so impressed that he used these same principles when creating his famous detective.
Sherlock Holmes was introduced in A Study in Scarlet (1887), followed by A Sign of Four in 1890, but didn't really take hold of the public's imagination until Strand magazine, newly founded in 1890, published a series of short stories called "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes." From that point on the public couldn't get enough of Holmes and his always reliable confidant, John H. Watson, a retired military doctor.
Residing in London at 221B Baker Street, Holmes's character and personality set him apart from all others. "Holmes, with his keen sense of observation, his lean face and hooked nose, his long legs, his deerstalker hat, his magnifying glass, and his ever-present pipe. This personality is what caught the reader's imagination." (The Literature of Crime and Detection)

Fresh start!

Everyone needs a fresh start if they've had a business or crafting hobby for multiple years. Although my jewelry business has been very good to me, and no I am not quitting it completely, I needed a fresh start. In 2008/2009 my family and I had a storefront close to where we live and we started a bath and body line. At the time it was called Enchanted Wings which was also our shop and jewelry line namesake. The response especially around christmas was unbelievable. Through much thought we have decided to bring it back! I opened the Etsy shop on halloween and have sold out twice! Thank you so much to everyone who has been so supportive! I will do my best to blog regularly. Look for our limited edition scents in the next few days!

Making a Vow!
Today July 12th 2011 at 12:45pm I am solemly making a vow to blog! As you can see from my past entries I have fail to do so faithfully, and that makes me a little sad! So from this day forward (I sound like I'm marrying my blog!!) I will share, vent, laugh, cry...do whatever makes me feel good! And you my little pretties will have no choice but to listen!
My most recent excitement is The Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival that is only 5 weeks away. When this time of year rolls around I can never contain myself! I get to see old friends, make new ones, and of course show off whatever creepy ideas have made their way into my brain! As you can see not only my blog but my website has changed. I wanted to really nail down something specific as to what I do or create. My love of Frida and Dia De Los Muertos has grown more over the last 2 years than ever. Come on I got a Sugar Skull tattoo...I think I'm in love! So I wanted to change up the dark backgrounds and go with a Mexican color theme. What I love the most....yes it's a bit more bright than you may have ever imagined me having but underneath it all it's still very macabre! Viva La Frida!!!
